My name is Debbie Keough, and I work at AZ Solar Control Glass Tinting – so I think a lot about residential and commercial window tinting. Because of where I work, I think I’ve become much more interested in the weather forecasts. My job is very much impacted by how hot or cool it is outside. And watching the weather reports lately, it seems that weather wise, this is going to be the first nice week we’ve had for a while. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy rain and think we don’t get enough of it. But I’m also an Arizona native, and like most of us, I absolutely HATE cold. So hearing that our temps will be in the mid to high 70’s by the end of the week makes me very happy.
When the weather turns pleasant it makes Arizonans think of other things as well. Like getting in a few rounds of golf, and the zoo or a nice picnic are always fun. And don’t forget the biggest party in town, The Phoenix Open!! And SPRING TRAINING – hot dogs and beer and plenty of sunshine…..
Tempe Diablo Stadium is the Spring Training home to the Los Angeles Angels and the Cactus League. It hasn’t always been the Angels for Spring Training, the teams have come and gone….but there is ALWAYS Spring Training in Arizona, our weather was made for it.
Speaking of Spring Training … got a call from Jerry who runs the show at Tempe Diablo Stadium. It seems the ticket takers couldn’t see anything through the windows of the ticket booth in the late afternoon sun – the glare was horrible!
So, deciding to take care of the problem before the sun got any worse, they called us to come and install solar window film on their Ticket Booth. This was a very interesting challenge. They had to be able to see the customers on the outside of the glass, and their customers needed to see who they were handing their money to.
They were very definite in what they wanted. Major reduction in glare, but they also specified that they wanted NO REFLECTIVITY whatsoever. If we had put a reflective film on there, the bright sunlight would have reflected right back in the eyes of the customers. None of the residential or commercial window films we showed them seemed to be exactly what they were looking for.
Our Owner, Tom Vanderhoof, has been in the window film business for almost 30 years. And this is a perfect example of how his decades of experience and out-of-the-box thinking style come in so very handy. Tom proposed that we actually use an AUTO window film on the Ticket Booth windows, and only install it on part of the window, and the folks at the Stadium agreed. We actually ended up installing a LIMO solar window film on the top 2/3 or so of the windows at Tempe Diablo. It looks wonderful, the customers are happy, and in the next couple of months when the sun is so much more intense, there are going to be some very happy ticket agents!
So if this warming trend has reminded you of the heat wave to come, don’t wait till every solar film company is backed up for 3 weeks on installs…..give us a call now! Tom will come out and measure your windows and talk with you about what you would like to have done. If you have some kind of unusual situation, let Tom put his experience and knowledge to work for you.
